Wisconsin Awards $2.5 Million to Support New Workforce Housing Projects

{{ pressRelease.Title}}

The new round of funding, part of the Workforce Housing Initiative, will support projects that strengthen access to quality, affordable homes near employment centers and community services. These developments are aimed at supporting middle-income families and essential workers struggling with rising housing costs.

Governor Tony Evers emphasized the importance of this investment in addressing Wisconsin’s housing shortage: “Every Wisconsinite deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. These projects will make a real difference in helping families stay close to their jobs and communities.”

WHEDA Executive Director Elmer Moore Jr. highlighted that the initiative builds on years of collaboration with local developers and municipalities to create sustainable housing solutions throughout the state. The funded projects will be distributed across several Wisconsin counties, with construction expected to begin in 2025.

The Workforce Housing Initiative reflects the state’s ongoing efforts to support housing affordability through a mix of loans, tax credits, and public-private partnerships. More projects are expected to be announced later this year.
